Weekly Round-up

Super Bowl Sunday...which I don't care about.

We had a pretty good week, except for the fact that I couldn't take the kiddos to the new homeschool PE class that my friend Danette got started. Our van with the whimsical license plate PARRTO6: PARRty (get it?) of 6, was due for inspection.

I, of course, didn't realize this until Jan. 30, the day before the inspection ran out. Typical. So Dave had to take the van with him to work (one of the only benefits to having him work at a dealership is that he can have the work done on the car while he's there), and I couldn't drive the girls to PE because I only had his little Subaru demo, and Loryn got out of school at 12:30, thus making it impossible to be in Harrisonburg by 1:00, and yadda, yadda, yadda.

Seriously, this whole school thing is getting to be a pain in the ass. The class doesn't seem to be a good fit for her anymore, and I guess I'm just now seeing it with open eyes because she's not happy to be there anymore. Ever since Loryn got sick at school the week before last, she cries every morning when I drop her off. Not heart-wrenching sobs, usually, but STILL. It's becoming more and more difficult for me to leave her there, in a place that doesn't seem to be helping her as much everyone (read: teachers, specialists, principal) assured us it would. 'Course, that's enough for ME to just want to be done with the whole thing, but there are other issues that are just too complicated to get into here. David and I have talked about whether to pull her now, or wait till the end of the year and see how it all "pans out"...and there just doesn't seem to be any answer except to wait and see, at least, not now.

I'll post more about Loryn's class, and some of her issues associated with Autism later, when I have the heart for it. I'm just really starting to see that the strides that she's made have been her own. She's communicating better with us not because she's in a special-ed class setting (as a matter of fact, I don't think she gets much help with speech there at all), but because she's ready to communicate better.

And, oh yeah, Dave got sick today. He was feeling kinda ill before I went to work, but managed to get up and put together an awesome chili for dinner while I was getting ready. By the time I got home, though, he had gone downhill quite a bit. Laid up in bed with covers up to his chin, sweating, chills, coughing, and a pretty good fever going. I hope he's feeling better tomorrow. He moaned about how he was a "terrible sick person"...buddy, you're no worse than I am, I promise. And you better believe if I catch your cold/flu nonsense, I'll be even MORE terrible...especially if I'm laid up with it on my birthday.

Hi, I'm leaving this message here because I'm not sure if you will be interested in reading a comment about a blog from two years ago. I'm a graduate student at Georgia Tech and my master's project is about Maple Story. I was wondering if its ok for you if I use one of your photos (one that shows one of your dauthers playing Maple Story) for my project poster. That picture is great for showing the common maple story player.

Welcome back, Paige! Nice to see you're blogging again.

Now, if I were totally selfish, I'd remind you of all the good points of having Lolo in school. Most notable, your ability to talk during fUNschool!

But let's face it: Your instincts about your girls are always dead-on. If you're getting a niggling feeling in the back of your mind or the pit of your stomach, you should listen to it. You know -- you already know -- what you need to do.

We'd just have to have MNO on a weekly basis to get our chat on!
